Angelic Layer

Suzuhara Misaki is a sixth grader who just moved to Tokyo, because she wants to see her mother again, whom she hasn't seen since kindergarten, and moves in with her aunt. While in Tokyo she learns of an amazingly popular toy/game called Angelic Layer, where people buy and custom design dolls known as Angels, and then can control their every movement mentaly, while the dolls are on a field called "layer"
Fighting tournaments between angels, and their controlers, called "Deus"'s is a huge event, with top deus's going on to compete on a national level.
Misaki (dubbed Misakichi) by her friend Tamayo, creates an angel Hikaru, and goes on to compete, making many friends along the way, as she goes on for her ultimate goal, which is to find her mother, who, from what it seems has some connection to the Angelic Layer phenomenon.
This series takes place a few years before Chobits, which is another CLAMP show, and is a direct sequel to Angelic Layer.
