I saw this episode, and the animation was quite breathtaking. In fact, I had to watch it twice because I wasn't reading the subtitles but just watching the pretty animation. They also drew the characters very differently and the color scheme was much darker (to help achieve the mood, I guess). I wonder if a different animation company did this episode...? I mean, the quality is well above the other (shudder) ones.
