Actually, it's kinda confusing. In the anime Akito's a male, but in the manga Akito's a female. If I told my friends about this, they'd call Akito an "it".

Akito is a woman, actually, her mother had hated Akito so much that Ren (Akito's mother) had decided to keep the gender of Akito a secret and put her under a male form. Akito did sleep with both Shigure and Kureno, it's a bit confusing but you must read the manga to understand most of it really. Yes Akito is considered a male in the anime because it was not to confuse fans and all. Not everyone in the manga knows Akito is a girl, thats another reason why the Sohmas call Akito "he"

Well if you here the whole story betwwen kureno and Akito and how oynce kureno was lifted from the curse and Akito begged for Kureno not to Kureno saw her as a crying little girl so he always stayed by her side and id need another post to explain the Akito sleeping with Shigure!
